In this section you find information regarding courses, examinations and course downloads of the department of Christian Philosophy.

There is no degree progamme for Intecultural Philosophy of Religion (former Christian Philosophy) only.
The subject of Philosophy is one of several disciplines and subjects of the bigger organisational unit, the Faculty of Catholic Theology with its various degree programmes like Catholic Theology diploma programme ("Fachtheologie"), Catholic Religious Education - Subject of instruction ("Lehramt" / "Unterrichtsfach"), (Catholic) Religious Education ("Religionspädagogik"), Master programme Advanced Theological Studies, and more.

The department of Intercultural Philosophy of Religion (former Christian Philosophy) covers the highest amount of compulsory courses for the theological degree programmes. Therefore, not every course can be offered on a yearly bases, regarding the little number of teaching staff.
You find an overview of all the courses offered by our department below.

Please inform yourself about "your" version of curriculum for your studies and also about study law and the statutes of the University of Vienna regarding registration and deregistration for examinations and courses!

Compensatory learning material is available ("Ersatzlernstoff für Berufstätige") for those who are not able to attend a course / lecture. Please don't rely on written notes by other students, they are not authorized by the teachers and often of poor quality.

Some of our courses are valid for students of Philosophy as well, some for other degree programmes.

Please contact the Studies Service Center relevant for "your" degree programme and Student Point for general requests concerning studying.

Important information

"What do I need": version of curriculum

Please inform yourself of your version of curriculum ("Studienplanversion") of your degree programm at the respective Studies Service Center, and therefore of the courses and examinations that you need, as well as requirements for them! You also find informations for switching versions of curriculum on the homepage of the StudienServiceCenter of Catholic Theology.

You should not and partly can not take courses and examinations in random order. Some require certain qualifications and requirements due to study law. Some are more basic, others are more advanced.

Please consider that there are various options of examinations for some courses, especially concerning "Philosophical Anthropology" and "Philosophical Theology", depending on the degree programme and version of curriculum.

Please inform yourself of the subjects of examination, subject matter and course downloads. These "Gliederungsblätter" and "Materialblätter" are available here.
Examinations refer to the latest version of a course.

Language skills in German

Most courses and examinations at the Faculty of Catholic Theology and our department in particular are in German.
Therefore, language skills in German are highly recommended if not required.
